Five Favourites // Seven

Dan surprised me with a night at the beautiful Fairmont Banff Springs hotel. The building looks like a castle and has huge grounds which are great to look around. We had a lovely view of the lake and mountains from our room.

We did Johnston Canyon trail walk when we were in Banff. There's a lower walk and an upper walk which takes you past waterfalls and caves. We only did the lower walk because it was pretty icy but plan to do the upper walk in spring. It reminded me of a real life "frozen."

I bought this herbs growing kit from Chapters for Dan. We always use herbs when cooking and he mentioned he wanted to grow some. This kit contains oregano, rosemary and thyme. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

I've started using Porefessional regularly again and I remember why I used to love it so much. It is my favourite primer and makes my foundation go on so well.

I got this bag from Winners (Canadian version of TK Maxx). I was needing a bigger bag and this is the perfect size. I also love the colour. Oxblood purple is one of my favourite colours.

Five Favourites // Six

We went to Banff National Park at the weekend. It is one of the most beautiful places I have been to. We stopped off at my favourite bagel place in Canmore before we arrived in Banff.

I love Lebanese food and I am enjoying the diversity of restaurants here compared to the limited selection in Aberdeen. For Valentine's we went to Aida's Bistro and it was amazing.

I received roses from Dan on Valentine's day. I love fresh flowers :)

I started making smoothies for part of my breakfast this week. I will share some of the recipes on here.

I am so glad they have season 2 of Bates Motel on Netflix here. I watched season 1 on UK Netflix last year but they never uploaded season 2. I find this show so addictive and really good.

LUSH: D'Fluff Review

The main ingredients: fresh strawberries, egg whites, golden syrup, rosehip oil, coconut oil, rapeseed oil and cocoa butter.

Why I like it: I'm not the type to use a shaving cream, normally I will use my conditioner and it does the job just fine. However, when I heard about LUSH's D'fluff shaving soap I was keen to try it. One of my favourite things about LUSH products is that you know exactly what goes into it...it's not full of confusing chemicals. The soap itself smells amazing and the consistency reminds me of strawberry angel delight, although LUSH says it was based on strawberry fluff spread  (I had to Google what that is).  LUSH recommend applying the soap to your legs and letting it soak in for 3-5 minutes. When I do this I get a super close shave and my legs always feel extremely soft after being dried. I had dry skin on my legs and since I started using this soap, it has cleared up a lot. D'Fluff has a longer shelf life compared to some of the other products from LUSH but I would probably get rid of it after a month of using because of the fresh ingredients. I've seen a few people say there's dried up after a month of it being opened. Overall I really recommend this product, especially if you have dry or sensitive skin.

Have you used D'Fluff or any other shaving products from LUSH?

Five Favourites // Five

I am in Calgary now! It is such a beautiful city and I can't wait to show you it on here. When I arrived it was -14/15 degrees every day but a chinook has hit and today it was +11 degrees and sunny which was really pleasant.

Last week I got a gel nail manicure and I loved it. I swear these manicures are meant to last 2 weeks or so but my gel polish was halfway up my nail by this week?! Maybe my nails just grow ridiculously fast. I removed the gel polish and I find that when I do that my nails are weak and rough. This Burt's Bees lemon cuticle cream has been my saviour. It is really helping to nourish and moisturise my nails. If you get gel mani's regularly I really recommend it.

Deodorant is a bit of weird thing to include but I couldn't pass this up! In the UK I struggled to find a deo that didn't leave marks on my clothes...even the ones that claimed to, I didn't find great. This deo is a white cream stick but goes on clear and hasn't left any marks on my tops. It also smells of baby powder. I love it.

So I was in Dollarama when I found this cream. It looks identical to Aveeno but is super cheap. Since arriving my skin has been quite dry and flakey and I hope that this cream helps. I've used Aveeno oat cream in the past and it has always done great things for my skin.

I finally got a pair of Uggs and had been looking for some in the UK but struggled to see any when the sales were on. These were $195 and converted that is only £101...so much cheaper to buy here than in the UK.

Do You Really Own Your Phone?

As you know from my previous posts I am currently in Canada. After arriving, one of my top priorities was to get my phone sorted out with a Canadian SIM card so I wouldn't risk running up a huge bill using my UK SIM card.

Never did I think this would pose a problem as I bought my iPhone outright from Apple two months ago so my phone wouldn't be locked and paid a monthly SIM-only bill to O2.

Yesterday I went to Bell to set up my new SIM card and they checked the serial number of my phone to make sure it would work as it is British - all was good. I happily told them the phone wouldn't be locked as it was bought with my money through Apple and not through my phone carrier back home. However when the SIM card was inserted we were presented with the above message (seen in the photo).

Luckily there was an Apple store in the shopping centre. I went to Apple and explained my situation to them. They looked up the serial number on my phone and confirmed that I bought it from Apple UK unlocked but when I inserted the SIM card from O2 into it, O2 sent a signal to lock my phone so it belonged to them.

I was furious. How dare O2 lock my product to their carrier when it wasn't directly bought from them. The best way I can describe it is that my phone had been hijacked by O2. They had taken it from me without telling me and I would have to pay to have access to it again.

I went to a store in the shopping centre who said they could unlock my phone for $60, being in a foreign country I was willing to pay this. The people I spoke to couldn't believe what O2 had done to me. In Canada they have a law that carriers abide to when it comes to phone locking - I wish the same was done in the UK. I read online that Ofcom are looking into introducing these laws.

Eventually after contacting O2 they unlocked my phone for free for me. However I am still angry and wanted to share my experience with you as I feel that it is wrong that they feel they can lock a product that does not belong to them.

Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? I would love to hear your opinions.

Long Haul Flight Essentials

My flight to Canada on Wednesday was 9.5 hours and I want to share with you my top long haul flight essentials.

Beauty
I don't like wearing make-up on long flights as I find that my skin dries out a bit so I picked up some Simple make-up removing wipes. I never use wipes but it is a quick solution when on a plane. Because my skin gets dehydrated during flights I have a sample pot of Origins Ginzing moisturiser. I love this moisturiser because it feels really refreshing on my skin. Still on the subject of moisture, I took Nuxe's lip balm. It really makes a difference when my lips are chapped. Before landing I like to make myself feel more awake by putting a little bit of makeup on so I use concealer and my favourite blusher.

Relax
I can get a bit anxious when flying so to me it is essential to take products that will help me relax. I have a lavender eye-mask, a de-stress roll on oil and my earphones.

Entertainment
I checked out what movies were on my flight in advance but you can't always rely on the inflight entertainment on working. I love taking books with me as I get so engrossed with them. I took The Silkworm with me to finish. I also have plenty of app games on my iPhone to keep me entertained on the flight. I use Spotify to stream my music and made a "travelling" playlist full of upbeat songs.

Five Favourites // Four

Went to The Boozy Cow for some burgers and much to my delight they have coke floats on the menu. It instantly threw me back to being a kid.

Marks and Spencers is not a brand that is on my radar when it comes to makeup but when I was browsing I saw this gorgeous eyeshadow palette. It is from their Autograph range.

This is one of my favourite treat yogurts ever. I am so glad Muller have continued to keep it as I think it started off as limited edition at first. It is meant to taste of Charbonel et Walker strawberry truffles and is amazing.

Throwback to last summer on my gorgeous Victoria Pendleton bike. I can't wait for the nicer weather to come around so I can go out on cycles again.

Every blogger seems to love Real Techniques brushes and I finally bought their foundation brush. I've never used a brush before and have found that it makes my foundation look so much better! I was also really happy to see that Rimmel have released a lighter foundation in their Wake Me Up collection as the "true ivory" was too dark for me.

Netflix Tag

I saw this tag on Adrienne's blog and since I am such a Netflix addict I had to do it!

1. What are you favourite series' to watch on Netflix?
Orange Is The New Black. I watched both seasons in about 2 weeks. I can't wait for the third season to start in summer. It feels like there's a huge gap between the second and third so I think I will have to rewatch it to refresh my memory.

 2. What are you currently watching on Netflix?
Pretty Little Liars. I started watching it years ago when it was showed on 4music and they only showed the first series. I'm glad it's finally available on UK Netflix.

3. If you could have any series, old or new put on Netflix, what would it be?
When I was a teenager I loved Lizzie Mcguire - would totally love for that to on Netflix. They used to have the Lizzie Mcguire movie. I would also love Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Gilmore Girls and Modern Family to be put on.

4. What is your one peeve about Netflix?
I wish they had a play offline option like Spotify. It would be really useful for travelling so you could make a playlist and choose to have certain episodes/movies available offline.

5. What are your essentials for a perfect night in with Netflix?
A take-away from my favourite Indian, Light of Bengal!

6. Recommend one series or film for someone else.
Bates Motel.

7, What has been the most overrated series you have watched on Netflix?
Breaking Bad. Everyone raves about it and I have tried to watch it a few times and can't get past the second episode. It just doesn't draw me in.

8, What is your guilty pleasure on Netflix?
When The Hills was on Netflix I used to watch it all the time. I don't really have a guilty pleasure right now.
